I cannot believe Christmas is less than a week away! As much as I love festive outfits of red and green, I thought I’d put together a completely untraditional holiday outfit today. I have a couple of “traditional” outfits coming later in the week but for today, I’m just going to have fun 😉
Untraditional Holiday Outfit: Colorful Winter Style

When I think of the holidays, a few things come to mind…velvet, sparkles, jewel tones and darker prints. I don’t normally gravitate toward dark clothing, but when I saw this dress at the Eliza J showroom at NYFW, I knew I had to put it on my holiday wishlist. I knew it would be a great untraditional holiday outfit!
The print is absolutely stunning in person and I just love the smooth, velvet background. To add interest, I wanted to add a pop of color that played well off the print yet something that was equally bold on it’s own….which leads me to this glorious coat! Purple is not a typical color that you see on coats and I knew it would fit in perfectly with my collection. It can styled with a sunny yellow for a fun and playful look, black and white for a classic look, saturated navy for a chic look and blush pink for a girly look. It also comes in the most adorable bright yellow *swoon*.
I absolutely love bright coats during the winter and think they are such a fun element to otherwise dreary weather. When choosing the bag, I originally went for my glittery party clutch, but then I found this bag that happened to match perfectly to my coat and I was sold. I layered a delicate gold necklace for a bit of sparkle and tada! I’m ready to party 😉

Love this untraditional look, you look spectacular! Purple should really be a holiday color. I feel like blue is really underused as well despite Hannukah. I think I’ll either be wearing a jumpsuit and a turtleneck or a red dress and a turtleneck!
