I’m not sure if there’s anything I love more than a luxurious at home spa day (aside from maybe a dress haha). In my opinion, it’s the perfect way to de-stress, relax and practice self-care. Over the years, I’ve carefully crafted a routine that works for me and today, I wanted to share my at home spa day must haves along with my step-by-step self-care routine.

Luxurious At Home Spa Day Essentials
When it comes to at home spa days, you don’t necessarily have to dedicate hours on end (unless you want to, that is!). This routine can be completely customized to your needs, wants and availability. At times, my schedule is packed so I will only do a facial or a mani/pedi but if I have the time, I definitely love to go all out. I do smaller self-care routines weekly and try to do a full self-care day at least once or twice a month (usually on a weekend). Check out my routine below for ideas on how to have an at home spa day!
Prep your Skin
Before I do anything, I love to do a quick dry brush. This is totally optional, of course, but I can definitely tell a difference since I’ve started incorporating this into my routine. The gentle exfoliation has made my skin look and feel so much more smooth! After this, I like to gather up my at home spa day supplies including my Luxetique spa day kit!
Set the Mood
A bubble bath is the main attraction when it comes to creating a luxurious spa day at home. I just love creating a pretty and calming atmosphere.
Recently, I got a pink bath tray and I honestly don’t know how I lived without it for so long! I love utilizing it for self-care storage during my bubble bath as well as decor. To set the mood, I also typically include a faux plant, wash cloth or small towel, a small candle and a beverage of my choice. I like my bubble baths to be fairly warm so I usually go for a cool beverage like iced tea, water, lemonade or juice.
For comfort, a bath pillow is a game-changer! It stays in place during my bath and keeps my head propped up in a comfortable way. This is another item that I can’t believe I lived so long without!
Indulge
When I take baths, I tend to go a little overboard lol! I ALWAYS include my bubble bath essentials – bubbles, bath salt and my top secret ingredient… olive oil. For bubbles, I like them to be pretty abundant so I use a few capfuls of Kai, Luxetique or Dr Teals bubble bath.
Bath salts completely depend on my mood. If I’m feeling tired, I’ll use one with a lemon or citrus scent… for relaxing, I love using lavender or rose… for muscle soreness, I typically go for something that includes mint. Every now and then, I will also throw in a sparkly pink bath bomb just for fun!
As for the olive oil, I know that might sound a bit strange! I’ve been doing this since I can remember and I have no idea why I started. I did read a few years ago that Sophia Loren used to do this as well so looks like I’m in good company 😉 1-2 capfuls of extra virgin olive oil will do! Just pour it under the faucet as the tub is filling and let it disperse. I find that it makes my skin extra moisturized!
Hair Treatment
This is an optional step in my routine but I will usually wash my hair and put on a deep conditioning or hair treatment mask before getting in the bath (if I’ve included olive oil). For hair growth, I love and recommend Tayloani and Vegamour! I typically leave on the mask or treatment for a while as I’m relaxing.
Relax
After my bath is ready, it’s time to relax! I light my candle, pour my beverage, get my cooling eye mask out of the fridge and bask in the warmth of the bath water. I’ll usually start off by listening to soft music or a meditation with my cooling eye mask on for 10-15 minutes. If I have more time to spare or want to forgo my eye mask overall, I’ll read a book. What I do not do is scroll on social media on my phone lol! This is supposed to be a relaxing environment after all. 😉
Cleanse
After my relaxation period, I start my cleansing routine when the water is still fairly warm. I recently came across the PMD Beauty Clean Body brush and let me tell you, this beauty tool is a godsend. I haven’t seen many PMD Clean Body brush reviews but so far, I am obsessed! It’s basically an at home spa day kit in one tool!
I got the PMD Clean Body in blush, which is the most beautiful color (plus it matches all the pink in my bathroom lol!). This amazing tool lifts, firms and tons the skin with reducing the number of ingrown hairs, reducing breakouts and giving a deeper cleaning to reveal softer, smoother skin. With four different vibration modes, it includes Sonicglow Technology to break down dirt and oil within pores at 700 vibrations a minute. It also comes with three different magnetized attachments in addition to the cleansing brush that can easily be swapped out including a –
- loofah
- pumice
- massager
I love using the PMD Clean Body Silverscrub Silver-Infused Loofah attachment for overall body cleansing and exfoliating. Plus it’s anti-bacterial! For more targeting spots, I use the regular Soft Silicone Bristle brush with my acne wash for my back and chest. This brush is also great for full body and is antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and odor resistant.
The PMD Beauty Clean Body Polish Aluminum Oxide Exfoliator is great for buffing away tough spots on the bottom of your feet or knee areas. I like to finish off this process with Relax Body Massager Attachment. It can be used in the shower or with a body oil or moisturizer. I have a hard time with massagers because they are usually too rough for me but this one is perfect. It’s super gentle and I always feel so much better afterwards! I like to use it on my upper and lower back as well as the bottoms of my feet.

Facial
After my bath, I indulge myself in one of two skincare routines depending on my specific needs.
Skincare Routine Option One – Masking:
- Cleanse (I don’t wash my face with the bath water)
- Exfoliate
- Apply a clay mask and let it dry
- After removing the clay mask, apply a moisturizing mask – either a gel mask or a sheet mask with eye masks underneath (I like to keep them chilled in my pink skincare fridge)
- Finish up with my regular skincare routine (serum and moisturizer)
- Apply a lip scrub and finish with a lip mask or moisturizing gloss
Skincare Routine Option Two – Skincare Tools:
- Cleanse
- Steam my face with a facial steamer
- Use a skincare tool depending on my specific needs (See this post for some of my faves! Lately, I’ve been using my PMD Beauty Personal Microderm)
- Finish up with my regular skincare routine (serum and moisturizer)
- Apply a lip scrub and finish with a lip mask or moisturizing gloss
Pamper yourself!
After my facial, I love to take some extra time to pamper my hands and feet! I start off my using the polishing attachment from my PMD Beauty Body brush. It’s very gentle as it smooths out the bottoms of my feet. After that, I proceed with painting my nails.
Do fingernails and toenails have to match? In my opinion, no! I typically reserve my fun, bright colors for my toenails and use softer neutrals and pastels for my fingernails. They are usually in the color family though. For example, I currently have bright pink toe nails and a sheer baby pink for my fingernails. For fingers, I’ve also been loving this DIY dip powder nail kit!
After my nails dry, I massage cuticle oil into my cuticles and slather on a super moisturizing body butter onto hands and feet. For my feet, I always cover them with fluffy socks to lock in the moisture. I also like to utilize this time to cover my entire body with a lotion and body oil mixture for overall super soft skin!
Spa Robes
And of course, I couldn’t talk about an at home spa day without talking about fashion hehe! I recently got the Serena & Lily St Helena spa robe and it feels like you’re actually at the spa! It’s pretty heavyweight though so for warmer days I go for something more lightweight (this is a great alternative). I love wearing robes during my entire treatment because it feels so much more luxe.
After the body lotion has dried, I switch out my spa robe for a glamorous silky robe. From there, I relax for a bit and go about my day!
There you have it – my luxurious at home spa day checklist and routine! This is one quite intense and takes about an hour to an hour and a half. However, you could totally just do one or two of these things for 15-30 minutes if you’re short on time and need a little pick me up. I also tend to mutli-task with many of these. 😉
I hope you loved these at home spa day ideas!
