Fashion Blogger Elizabeth Hugen of Lizzie in Lace shares a Pinterest Inspired Boho Braid with Flowers

At heart, I’m a free-spirited romantic and many times, this comes out through my style. While I adore ladylike silhouettes and vintage inspired garments, I do have a bit of a boho side. Flowy maxi dresses are definitely my jam and in the fall, you’ll probably find me wearing them most weekends with my favorite lace up boots. And with a pretty boho outfit, nothing goes better than a gorgeous boho braid. This lovely hairstyle can be easily customized to accompany your favorite boho look but it’s also ideal for a wedding, photoshoot, or just because… because life is short so why not have fun with your style. Today I’m sharing how you can create this gorgeous Pinterest inspired boho braid with flowers (all by yourself)!

To Create Your Braids:

Start by folding your extensions. Stagger the clips to flatten. You’ll want one clip to remain on the bottom.

Put a weight on the end of the extension where the clips are and start braiding.

Leave a few inches at the end unbraided and secure with a hair tie. Repeat this process for the second weft.

Once you’re finished with both, tighten the braids and gently pull out portions to widen. Repeat this process as necessary for both wefts until you get your desired look. If the end part where the clips are located at sticking up, simply secure with a bobby pin to flatten.

Now you can start decorating your braids! Feel free to use any embellishments or florals of your choosing. I want to create a romantic boho braid so I’ll be adding these gorgeous floral hair pins from Les Couronnes de Victoire. Start by adding your first pin about an inch and a half away from your top clip. Gently weave in and out of the braid to secure. Repeat this as many times as you’d like on both braids. Keep in mind that the braids will be criss crossing once we clip so embellish accordingly.

Hair Application:

Section off a portion of your hair starting at the top of your ear and clip on top of your head. I started on my left side but it doesn’t matter.

Clip in one of the braids underneath this section. Do the same thing for the other side.

Take your braids and extend to the other side of your head and bobby pin. It should look like they are stacked. Bobby pin your braids and remove the hair ties.

On one side take the section of hair that you originally set aside and twist it toward the top of your head. Take this section and place it under both of the braids. Bobby pin under the braid to hold. This will cover the clip ins so if you need coverage feel free to tease a bit before doing this step. Do the same thing to the other side. Brush of the back of your hair to blend.

Andd that’s it! You have a beautiful boho braid with flowers fit for a princess! <3
