NYFW F/W 2019 Day One Recap

NYFW F/W 2019 Day One

I’m finally back from New York and I feel like I haven’t posted on here in forever (even though it’s only been few days lol!).  Today, I’m sharing my first ever February fashion week with you! Read on for my NYFW F/W 2019 Day One recap!

NYFW F/W 2019 Day One

Arriving to New York was a bit problematic initially as my connecting flight was delayed by seven hours (see my post here)! Once I got there, it was smooth sailing and I was ready to hit the ground running.

Day One was the busiest day of all! I had four meetings, three shows and three events scheduled so as you can imagine, I was running around like crazy. I learned from past Fashion Weeks that it’s vital to have snacks and water with you at all times because you never know where the day may take you (and you never know when you’ll return back to the AirBNB lol).

Coming to NYFW in February was actually a last minute decision. Prior to this, I had never really experienced temperatures below 30 degrees thanks to my California roots. I’m happy to report back that although it was FREEZING, I made it through and didn’t feel too uncomfortable. Although the weather was definitely different than September, I actually enjoyed how low-key it was. There were less events and less shows, which made it easier to schedule face time with the people that I work with on a consistent basis.

Fashion Hong Kong

This was a group show for Hong Kong based designers!

This collection was fun, funky and ethnic! Seeing the pieces up close made me appreciate just how much work went into creating them (the first outfit has fringe made entirely of beads)!! The collection also had a slight grunge feel which I thought was a nice juxtaposition against the colorful vibe and I loved the movement of the pieces.

Anveglosa

This was my favorite! I would honestly wear every single piece from her collection. This chic monochrome collection was full of romantic, feminine and elegant items straight out of a modern fairytale. The items were streamlined and minimal-esque in a rich jewel toned color palette and of course, there was no shortage of tulle. I also loved the ruffled tulle shoes!

Heaven Please

Playful, colorful and creative come to mind with this collection! It incorporated a lot of color in both bright and pastel hues that played off each other like magic. Patterns, textures and embellishments ruled the runway in this light-hearted and whimsical collection. This one gave me a smile ear to ear 🙂

Nonie (images coming soon)

In true Nonie style, this collection was minimal and chic with a neutral color palette. I’ll be showing you images of my favorite pieces soon 🙂

Chiara Boni La Petite Robe

This collection made all of my French dreams come true! I loved how feminine yet strong each piece was. There was a variety of items from flowy dresses to structured pant suits in the most luxurious fabrics. Fall florals and pretty jewel tones were reinvented to create the ultimate Parisian wardrobe!

Ann Taylor Event with Style Collective

Later that night, a couple of the roomies and I headed to the Ann Taylor event for an evening full of shopping, light bites and lots of good conversation. I always love events like this because it’s the best place to meet like-minded individuals. We all left with a few new friends 🙂

Blogger Meet Up

To end the night, we all went to an intimate meet up hosted by another blogger. I was particularly excited about this one because we all knew each other from our blogs and Instagram, but had never met in real life. Meeting fellow bloggers that I have been following for years and support regularly is always so much fun! You already feel like you know the other person and meeting in real life is always such a crazy feeling.
