It seems like heel heights are finally getting lower and my feet are thanking me haha! Flats are finally back in style but let’s be real, they never completely went out.

Ballet flats are a classic wardrobe staple that is both timeless and practical. Usually reserved for the preppier fashions of the world, ballet flats have made a huge comeback recently given TikTok’s obsession with micro trends and our society’s longing to find a style community to be a part of.

The ballet flats of today are super stylish, wearable and sophisticated. Some designs even take inspiration from ballet itself! Balletcore was huge a couple of years ago but truthfully, it’s still going strong with the romantic coquette aesthetic leading the pack on today’s trending fashion styles. Another top trend is the old money aesthetic taking inspo from tailored rich girl style with a hint of Parisian flair.

All items are incredibly high-quality and thoughtfully designed for the consumer and environment. I got the Wine Burgundy color but honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of them (the metallic silver is also on my wishlist!). This updated Mary Jane style is elevated and luxurious with an elegant square toe, shiny patent leather and glistening buckles. The ALOHAS Luke Onix Flats is such a comfortable and flattering shoe as well. These would be amazing ballet flats for work. I just love the Parisian vibes! Plus if you like the look of socks with ballet flats, this would be a great style!

The ALOHAS Odette Flats are the ultimate ballet slipper! The design resembles pointe shoes so much yet they are super wearable and comfortable. I got the pale pink version and I have to say – it’s the most beautiful shade! I absolutely adore the satin fabric and leather bow on these ALOHAS ballet flats. These dainty details give off such a feminine romantic vibe (perfect for my coquette girlies). These would be great ballet flats for a wedding or everyday wear!

ALOHAS Musa Bicolor Black Pink Leather Flats

This pair of ALOHAS flats is perfect for all of my pink lovers! The design is like Elle Woods and Barbie meets Chanel – perfection! I’ve always loved the classic look of cap toe flats but the bubble gum pink color is what drew me in. It makes a statement in such a fun and unique way – timeless with a twist 😉 These would also make lovely ballet flats for work but could also be styled for everyday as well. This would also be another great option for socks with ballet flats (or even styled with tights!). So chic!

How to Wear Ballet Flats

You might be wondering what to wear with ballet flats. Flats are a classic for a reason and they are so easy to wear and style! Slip on a casual pair to wear with jeans or an everyday dress. Elevate your tailored workwear or suits with a pair in a luxurious fabric. They even look stunning paired with flowy fabrics and more romantic looks! They truly look great with everything. I think the materials and overall design dictate what they look best with but of course, there are no fashion rules around here 😉 My rule of thumb, however, is the following –

Casual Outfits (jeans, day dresses, etc) – look for flats with:

• Basic colors (or even a bold one if your style leans more on the colorful side)
• Durable fabrics like leather
• Minimal details
• Minimal design

Romantic or Dressy Outfits (flowy fabrics and designs) – look for flats with:

• Delicate fabrics like satin, lace, suede, etc (trendy sheer styles are great too!)
• Softer colors (although darker colors can be romantic as well!)
• Details like bows, embellishments, charms, ribbons, etc.
• Round/almond toe, square toe

Work Outfits (structured, tailored looks) – look for flats with:

• Durable fabrics that look elevated (leather, patent leather, etc)
• Neutral colors (or colors on the darker or lighter end of the spectrum)
• Minimal yet unique details (small bows, buckles, straps, etc)
• Square toe, pointed toe, cap toe

Do you wear socks with ballet flats?

Absolutely! You can wear them with or without socks, although you definitely want them to be more on the dainty side. I particularly think that more structured looking flats and Mary Jane styles look amazing with a delicate lace ankle sock or sheer knee sock. For anything else, I recommend sheer tights.

Yes, I have found ALOHAS shoes to be quite comfortable, which is amazing because sometimes beautiful shoes can be anything but. So happy that they combine the best of both worlds!
