So you’re here for the answer to your burning question – are Tulle Skirts in Style for 2023? The simple answer is yes… and no. Let me explain.
When I started my blog in 2015, tulle skirts were EVERYWHERE and I was living for it! This is truly when my obsession began. During this time, most were around knee length or shorter with very poofy layers. It was also known as a “tutu” skirt due to it’s ballerina-esque look.
While I don’t think tulle skirts ever fully left, I think that they are coming back in full force in 2022. However, instead of the short poofy layers of the last decade, we are seeing much more streamlined silhouettes with softer fabrics and longer lengths. Think less poofy and more flowy 😉 2022 tulle skirts are full of volume and movement in a romantic way.
I think the styling and design difference is in conjunction with a lot of the feminine and romantic trends that we’ve been seeing the last few years. For example, the Regencycore trend and Bridgerton have inspired an entirely new feminine wardrobe. The Balletcore and princess dress trends are also on the rise meaning lots of tulle! As a result, we’re seeing a variety of tulle skirt options in longer lengths like full ballgown, tea length, midi and knee length.
2022 tulle skirts are also much more wearable. Although the poofy versions do exist, there are so many more that have much less volume than their predecessors. Color options are endless and tulle is being used in new ways during the design process. Check out more of my tulle skirt looks to see more variations of this classic silhouette!
People are also having much more fun with styling! No longer are tulle skirts reserved for princesses and ballerinas. They can honestly work with any personal style from ladylike or romantic to grunge or minimalist. They can be dressed up or down, used for monochromatic looks and creatively styled in so many ways.
Long story short – yes, tulle skirts are still in style for 2023! Look for longer lengths, streamlined silhouettes, softer tulle fabrics and less “poof.” Of course, I’m an advocate for wearing whatever you’d like so if you prefer poofy, go for it! Wearing tulle is about feeling beautiful, confident and wearing it in a way that feels true to you so have some fun! Here is my favorite place to buy tulle skirts!
