If there’s one thing I’ve been loving this year, it’s the prairie dress trend! I saw a lot of this style for spring and summer and I’m happy to see that it’s sticking around for fall. With pretty puff sleeves, a fresh autumn color palette and a flowy skirt, what not’s not love? This is typically the style that I go for on the weekends or just when I’m feeling a bit more casual. I love that it looks like you put some effort in but it’s still so comfortable at the same time (win win!). This BA&SH dress checks all the boxes and I honestly can’t get enough of it! It’s such an easy garment to just throw on and I’ve worn it so much already 😉 To play into the prairie vibes even more, I paired with a pair of brown lace up boots, a clay-colored bucket bag, dainty jewelry and a taupe rancher hat. And there you have it – a romantic, boho fall prairie dress outfit idea! It would also look so cute paired with a chunky knit cardigan on top!
Are you a fan of the prairie dress trend?

And now… I have lots of news haha! It’s. Been. A. Week. And I have soooo much to do! This past Saturday, we randomly got a text from my brother-in-law about a house for rent. Our apartment lease is up at the end of February so we’ve been looking a bit but not seriously since we still have a few months left. We’ll I don’t know what possessed me to do this (because I hateeee talking on the phone and I never randomly call strangers) but I called the number while my husband was picking up breakfast and set up an appointment to look at it. We saw it, we liked it BUT there were terms in our current lease that we couldn’t get out of so we didn’t pursue it any further. Well… the stars miraculously aligned and it turns out that we were able to work it out with our current lease so we submitted our applications on Monday and last night, we officially signed the rental agreement for our very first house! Woo hoo!
My husband and I have lived in an apartment since we got married over 7 years ago (also, Monday was our 12 year dating anniversary! No Disney this year, obviously :-/ ). People always ask why we don’t just buy a house and well, we have a lot of reasons but the main one is that we don’t want to be tied to something that longterm just yet. And we really did like our apartment! Our current one has been a wonderful place for us the past four years but in a way, I feel like we’ve outgrown it. Like the majority of the population, the current world crisis changed a lot of things for us. Although I’ve been working from home for a while, I realized through this whole thing that I need to have more freedom. I feel like my mental health suffered a great deal with me being inside for such a long time and we decided a few months ago that this would be our last lease term for the apartment.
I definitely didn’t expect this process to move so quickly! In fact, this is SO out of character for both my husband and I. We (well, me moreso than him) are such planners and a lot of time, thought and review-reading go into our decision process lol! For us to make such a big decision in just three days is like… living in the twilight zone haha! Just last week, moving out wasn’t even a thought on our mind! But we found the perfect place for us and knew that we had to jump on it.
In the city that I live in, good places are really hard to come by and they don’t come cheap. My husband and I have been terrified of not being able to find a place when our lease was up because lately, things have been going very quickly and pickings are next to none. I feel a huge weight off my shoulders since I know that we will actually have a place to live and I’m so excited for more space, an actual yard, having guests over (we currently don’t have guest parking), and not having to walk up the stairs with groceries. The nerves are definitely setting in though. We now have to buy a washer and dryer, something we’ve never done before and also have a lot more responsibility than we did with the apartment. In a way, it’s seems like we’re not ready which is so funny because we’ve been adulting for quite some time now haha! But I have a good feeling about this and I think it was a good decision. Our official move in date is this Friday (so fast, right??) BUT I’ve got sooooooo much to do for the blog since it’s the holiday season so we’re going to stay in our apartment until the end of the month and move in little by little while we tie up loose ends and prepare for our new home 🙂
Second piece of news – I’ve just finished up all the details for the group trip! Next September, we are going to …. ITALY!!! AHHHH! There were so many destinations that people wanted to visit but Italy was definitely the top choice. We’ll be exploring Rome, Florence, Siena, and Cinque Terre. The trip will officially launch on Friday and I’ll share more details on the blog at that time (dates, itinerary, pricing, etc) 😀 Until then, please sign up here if you are interested in scoring early bird pricing (if you’ve already signed up, you don’t have to do it again). Anyone is welcome to join <3 I am so so so excited about this!!!
