Best Beach Reads to Indulge In This Season
The Summer Getaway by Susan Mallery

In a Nutshell: The Summer Getaway is a story about a woman who travels to California to take a break from her family and figure out her life. However, she’s reminded that where ever you go, life and children follow. This heartfelt story has a powerful mother/daughter relationship at it’s core. If you are a fan of Susan Wiggs, Nancy Thayer, Elin Hilderbrand and Mary Alice Monroe, you will LOVE this book!
My Take: Really enjoyed this one! It was a very entertaining read – lots going on in the story (and very relatable lol). Plus it takes place in beautiful Santa Barbara, one of my favorite places! This is definitely the perfect beach read.
Summer at the Cape by RaeAnne Thayne

In a Nutshell: Summer at the Cape is an emotional story about two sisters, Cami and Violet Porter, who come together to mourn the death of Violet’s twin sister, Lily. The sisters learn to make peace with one another over the duration of the summer. They also must make peace individually with their outspoken and free spirited mother who left their father 20 years earlier. Fans of Debbie Macomber, Susan Wiggs and Barbara Delinksky will love this!
My Take: This was a really heart-warming read! Quite emotional at times but very sweet and relatable. There were quite a few moments that I felt resonated with my own life. The story was engaging and it was beautiful to see the growth within the characters throughout the book.
An Honest Lie by Tarryn Fisher

In a Nutshell: An Honest Lie is a story about a girls weekend trip to Vegas gone terribly wrong. This book is an exciting, complex psychological thriller with an epic twist. If you loved Girl A, When No One Was Watching, The Push and Pretty Little Wife, this is a must-read!
My Take: I absolutely love thrillers and this one definitely didn’t disappoint! The story overall was much different than I expected but I think it worked really well. This was my first read from this author but I’m excited to check out more of her books!
The Wrong Victim by Allison Brennan

In a Nutshell: The Wrong Victim is a suspenseful story about a sightseeing tour that doesn’t go quite as expected. A group of nine people charter a boat to take a tour of the San Juan Islands only to have it explode 20 minutes later. Join the FBI Mobile Response Team as they uncover the mystery as to why this happened and who committed this horrible act (hopefully, before they strike again…).
My Take: I don’t read many crime/mystery books but I love watching crime shows and even took a crime profiling class in college! This was a really great read. Loved the overall story, process and trying to guess who did it. Apparently this is the 3rd book in the Quinn & Costa series. I have not read the other two but now they’re on my list!

Oh I wish I would have taken criminal profiling in college! I love mysteries and crime shows. These books sound interesting and particuarly interested in the thriller and the last book. 🙂
