You’ve likely seen VIVAIA all over social media and you’re probably wondering “Are VIVAIA shoes legit?” I got my first pair of shoes last year and since then, my VIVAIA collection has expanded quite a bit. I’ve talked about them in a few posts and videos but there are so many questions that I didn’t answer.
As someone that has a year of experience with this footwear brand, I wanted to share my honest VIVAIA review along with the answers to all of your burning questions. Let’s begin!

What is VIVAIA?
VIVAIA is a sustainable shoe brand that creates high quality footwear at an affordable price. Everything from the production to the packaging to the product is sustainable and ethical. You can read more about their sustainability practices here.
They have a ton of footwear options in variety of styles and colors! You can find everything from flats and heels to boots and loafers. The designs are stylish, elegant and most of all, comfortable.

What are VIVAIA shoes made of?
A few of the most popular questions I get asked are “What is VIVAIA footwear made of?” and “Are VIVAIA shoes vegan?” Firstly, VIVAIA shoes are actually created from recycled water bottles. Yes, you heard that right! The plastic water bottles are used to create threads for their unique fabric. You would think that the fabric would feel like plastic but it’s actually very soft and flexible!
As for VIVAIA being vegan, I would say that most of their footwear is vegan friendly. However, some of their boots do use ethical wool so keep this in mind.
Are VIVAIA shoes good quality?
Absolutely! VIVAIA shoes are really amazing quality, in my opinion! At first, I wasn’t sure what the fabric would feel and look like with the water bottles. I was pleasantly surprised to see just how gorgeous they are in person (love that it comes in 100% recycled packaging too)!
The knit fabric is unique and actually seems to be quite trendy right now. The shoes include a soft and flexible upper along with an anti slip rubber outsole and padded insole. Every aspect of the shoe is incredibly well-made! I’ve also found that they hold up well over time.
Are VIVAIA shoes breathable?
Yes, VIVAIA footwear is breathable! The fabric makes it very easy for the feet to breathe AND their shoes include an eco-friendly deodorizing insole. Plus the flats are washable, making it even easier to take care of your footwear.
Are VIVAIA shoes comfortable?
VIVAIA shoes are incredibly comfortable!! In fact, aside from the design, this is the first thing that I noticed. The fabric stretches a bit to create a comfortable, flexible fit and the insoles have quite a bit of padding. Some of the flats even have heel padding! For arch support, I recommend the Aria 5. How do VIVAIA shoes fit?
Regarding VIVAIA sizing, I would say that they are true to size for the most part. I have quite a few of their shoes and only one pair of my VIVAIA heels ran about half a size too small. They have really excelled in this area as they’ve actively listened to customers since their inception 2 years ago. They are always trying to improve their designs and offer footwear options that are not only comfortable and beautiful but inclusive as well.
Are VIVAIA shoes good for wide feet?
In some of my previous VIVAIA hauls, I’ve gotten questions about whether or not VIVAIA works for wide feet. In my opinion, VIVAIA flats are a particularly great option for those with wide feet. I’ve found that the stretchiest materials seem to be used for the flats. They do also have sizing information for each shoe’s product description so I recommend checking that out as well.
Do VIVAIA boots fit wide calves?
I’ve also received questions regarding VIVAIA boots and whether or not they fit wide calves. This was actually something that I was worried about as well since I tend to have this issue A LOT. I’m under 5 ft with athletic calves and thighs so knee high boots and over-the-knee boots usually don’t fit me. I have both the knee high and OTK VIVAIA boots and was ecstatic to see that both stretched to accommodate my legs! They are very stretchy so I don’t for see this being an issue for most, which is good news!!

Are VIVAIA shoes good for travel?
VIVAIA flats are perfect for travel in my opinion! They can easily fold up for storage in your suitcase, carry on, or even your handbag! They are also very comfortable to walk around in. I’ve taken mine with me so many places and I haven’t had any issues with tired or hurting feet. I’ve also never “broken them in” – I’ve always just kind of worn them with no issues. As I mentioned earlier, they are also machine washable so they would be perfect to bring along on a longer vacation!
Are VIVAIA shoes legit?
Absolutely! VIVAIA is a real company and the products they create are high-quality, well-designed, comfortable and stylish. I love that they use sustainable materials, have ethical practices and produce quality footwear for many that typically have a hard time finding well-fitting, stylish, and quality shoes. Plus they are always coming out with new designs (which means that I’m always adding to my VIVAIA collection haha!).

- Are VIVAIA shoes sold in stores? At this time, I believe they are only sold on VIVAIA’s website.
- How long does shipping take? I live in California and it took about a week.
- How to return VIVAIA shoes? VIVAIA customer service is amazing in my experience! They are always open to answering any questions you may have. If for any reason, you wish to return or exchange, you can do so within 30 days.

I received my Vivaia Pointed Toe Kitten Heels yesterday and the 9.5, my usual size, is too small for me. When I attempted to return them they said I can either exchange them or get 20% of cash back, which is outrageous because this is NOT a sale item and is not in accordance with the information on Vivaia website. I would have exchanged them for a size 10, except that after wearing the shoes in the house for just 5 minutes I got the beginning of a blister from the rough woven inside. They’re gorgeous and have potential to be comfortable, but I cannot believe they only give customers 20% back on a “hot” shoe item, 1 day after delivery. I think everyone should be very careful with this company.
Hi Susan! I’m so sorry to hear about your experience 🙁 That sounds very out of the ordinary for them! I have many of their shoes and haven’t had issues, however, I have never returned anything. Like you, I do find the pointed toe heels just a tad small in the toe area so I understand your concern. May I ask who you contacted because that doesn’t sound right. Their return policy clearly states that items can be returned or exchange within 30 days of receiving and if it’s on final sale, I don’t know why this would be an issue. I would reach out to support@vivaia.com with your order number and explain the situation. Did you happen to use my discount code by chance? They seem to gape a lot on the sides. Is this normal?
Are you referring to my first image? I was on my tip toes to show a more flattering angle 🙂 It’s normal for any flat to do that. If you are referring to a pair that you have and you’re wearing them like normal, then no they shouldn’t gape.

Hi Lorraine! It’s so great to meet you 🙂 Thank you so much!! Great question. Some are and some aren’t. A lot of the newer styles (especially the boots) will have a waterproof design but this varies from shoe to shoe. They always note it on the website though. The older ones aren’t water proof. Is there a specific style you had in mind? Perhaps I could help!
