Summer 2023 Bucket List & Intentions

Feminine fashion blogger Elizabeth Hugen of Lizzie in Lace shares her Summer 2023 Bucket List & Intentions along with a gorgeous floral maxi dress outfit

Happy First Day of Summer!

I can’t believe that we are already into summer! Where has the time gone? For once, we are actually having a lovely start to our summer. We had a very cold and rainy winter, which is out of the ordinary for California, especially the area that I live in. As a result, we ended up with an abundance of wildflowers during the spring time (as seen in these photos). Definitely one of my favorite spring seasons that we’ve ever had! And now instead of 110 degree weather, we’re slowly easing into it. No complaints here!! I’m excited to see what summer has in store!

Read on for my summer 2023 bucket list and intentions!

What I Accomplished from my Spring Bucket List

I had a fairly productive spring season! Here are the items I checked off from my Spring Bucket List this past month:

  • Go for a Wildflower Drive/Hike – We went for 6 weekends in a row!
  • Go for a Bike Ride – We got an exercise bike – does that count? LOL! Out weather was so crazy this spring (lots of rain) so I didn’t get to go out on the bike as much I would have liked.
  • Update my Outdoor Patio – Currently painting our patio set lol!
  • Try a New Lemonade or Tea Recipe – I’m always trying new recipes!
  • Plan a Future Trip – We are currently planning our 15 year anniversary trip to Disney World AND a wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii next May.
  • Go on a Road Trip – We went to TONS of wildflower locations, Hearst Castle, Yosemite and all over Nayarit, Mexico.
  • Work Out Consistently (at least 3-5 times a week) – I fell off the wagon when I got my wisdom teeth removed but I have just started back with my work outs 🙂
  • Indulge in a Self-Care Day (at least once a week) – Not once a week but I have been pretty consistent (every other week).
  • Watch Classic Movies That I Haven’t Seen – Watched The Birds and High Society – loved both!
  • Meditate & Write in my Gratitude Journal Everyday – I forgot about this but I’m getting back into it now!

SPRING 2023 INTENTIONS

Uplevel Myself

This is the first time in YEARS that I didn’t include “prioritizing my health” as part of my seasonal bucket list. However, I do feel that this is related lol! Health-wise, I want to be more consistent with my workouts. I have a yoga mat, YouTube, an exercise bike, and legs so there is no excuse lol! One good thing that came out of my wisdom teeth surgery is that I lost the stubborn weight that I had gained as a result of my food allergies and dietary changes. I’ve been able to maintain it and I’m proud of myself for making healthier choices when it comes to eating. Now, I’d just love to tone up a bit.

I’ve been doing great mentally and emotionally so I definitely want to stay on this positive trajectory. I mentioned during my last bucket list post that I was in the process of a major clean out. Upleveling myself is part of this process. For the last few years, I’ve been cleaning out toxic friends and family members along with clothing and items that no longer mesh with who I am. I’ve been going through a “glow up” of sorts from in the inside out.

Aside from working out, I do want to work on my appearance a bit more. My hair is still fairly damaged from the extensions I had in years ago so I want to work on getting my hair health back to where it was (or at least healthy in some aspect). My acne is actually doing well! I’ve finally found some products that have been working well for me so I will definitely be continuing this regimen. As for skincare, I want to make an effort to do more self-care – masks, bubble baths, facials, etc. I also want to ensure that I am putting more work into myself like I used to. There was a time in my life where I was feeling a bit unmotivated and now I’m finally feeling much more like myself again! I used to love wearing pretty pajamas, painting my nails, giving myself pedicures, etc so I want to get back into doing all of this on a regular basis.

Get Organized & Let Go

I have FINALLY finished my massive closet clean out. This has been the largest one I’ve ever done and I documented the whole thing on YouTube! Now I’ve just got to get rid of everything, which is going to be quite time consuming. But this is a big step for me. I used to hold on to everything and I’m finally at a point where I am okay with letting go. This season, I want to tackle the garage. We actually don’t have a lot of “stuff” in there but it’s full of moving boxes and recycling… and it’s just a bit unorganized. We would love to make a small gym in there so hopefully we can start small with moving out the boxes and recycling. I also want to update the house a bit, especially the living room. Some of furniture pieces are coming up on their lifespan and I’m ready to let go of them to make room for something new. This is quite a big leap for me as I’ve never felt the need to decorate as I’ve never been in one place long enough to do so.

Take Action

I’ve got SO much that I want to accomplish and to be honest, I haven’t had time to do any of it. Firstly, I need to re-prioritize my tasks and stick to a schedule. Next, I need to make a plan of action for things I want to accomplish – short-term and long-term. My husband and I have actually been doing this individually and together. We’ve been big on making goals this year and trying to come up with a plan to accomplish them. My issue is that I have SO many ideas and not enough time or energy to get to it all. This season, I want to start small by getting in the habit of getting things done rather than continually pushing them back to accommodate other projects. And before starting anything new, I want to finish up the things that I’ve been working on for a few years .
