One of the things I’ve always loved about Parfums de Marly is how elegant and polished the packaging feels. From the moment you open the box, the presentation immediately feels luxurious.
The outer packaging is beautifully designed and sturdy, which makes the experience of opening the perfume feel special (almost like unwrapping a little treasure hehe!). It’s the kind of packaging that feels thoughtful and refined, perfectly reflecting the brand’s overall aesthetic (and perfect for gifting too).

Parfums de Marly is known for its signature bottle design, which feels both classic and sophisticated. The design has a timeless quality to it – it’s elegant without being overly ornate. It feels luxurious while still maintaining that understated refinement the brand is known for.
From the signature colorful gemstone on the metal lid and timeless braided tassels to the baroque-inspired details and elegant curvy design, Parfums de Marly creates fragrances that are meant to be seen and experienced. First Impressions of PDM Athenais eau de Parfum
The first moment of smelling a new fragrance is always my favorite part. It’s that instant reaction when you first experience the scent before it begins to evolve on the skin. For this reason, I ALWAYS create a video with a real time scent test (more on that below).
Parfum de Marly perfumes in particular evolve so beautifully throughout the experience. It’s like taking a journey through scent! When I first spritzed it, I got an opening with abundant white florals. From there, it expanded into a gentle fruity citrus blend and ultimately settled into a sweet mix of vanilla and white florals.
My initial impression of Athenais was that it felt refined and beautifully blended. The scent immediately gives off a sense of elegance and softness rather than feeling overly strong or overpowering. It’s a light and airy fragrance that transports you to a floral dreamscape. It reminds me of sunshine on a spring day, Toy Story clouds and a sea of blossoming orange groves as far as the eye can see.
It has that lovely quality many luxury fragrances share – something that feels polished and intentional rather than overly trendy. The overall impression is feminine, graceful, and quietly luxurious. I think that Athenais from Parfums de Marly would be the perfect feminine luxury perfume for spring and summer. I can see it being worn for weddings, nice vacations and daytime wear.
Longevity
Longevity is always an important factor when it comes to choosing a fragrance. Luxury perfumes often have stronger staying power because of their higher-quality ingredients and balanced composition. Lighter scents also usually last 6-8 hours on me and this seemed to run true to that timeline for me. The scent is light and delicate making it an elegant perfume for women for everyday wear!

Whenever a new fragrance launches from Parfums de Marly, one of the first questions people ask is how it compares to the iconic Delina (my fave!!). While both fragrances are undeniably feminine and elegant, they actually have very different fragrance personalities.
Delina is famous for its signature rose and rhubarb composition, which creates a bright, fruity floral scent with a slightly tart opening and a soft vanilla-musky dry down. Its combination of Turkish rose, lychee, and rhubarb gives it that instantly recognizable rosy sweetness.
Athénaïs, on the other hand, leans into a luminous citrus and white floral profile. It opens with sparkling neroli, bergamot, and yuzu before blooming into a heart of jasmine and orange blossom. As it dries down, creamy notes of vanilla, amber, and tonka bean create a soft, warm finish.

Is Athénaïs Similar to Delina?
This is one of the most common questions fragrance lovers are asking right now, and the answer is: not really… but they do share a subtle brand DNA.
Athénaïs and Delina are both feminine, floral fragrances from Parfums de Marly, but they focus on very different scent profiles. Delina is primarily a rose-centered fragrances with a fruity sweetness while Athenais embraces orange blossom and jasmine supported by sparkling citrus and a soft vanilla.
