I’ve been a busy person for as long as I can remember! In school, I was involved in clubs, sports, arts and pretty much any other activity you can think of. I was always learning new things and immersing myself in more hobbies than any person should have (lol!). And as I got older, I kept developing my love of learning new things while also working up 3-4 jobs at one time and going to school. While I certainly appreciate the work ethic that was instilled in me at a young age, doing so much at once can be detrimental to your health and eventually lead to burn out. For this reason, I always made sure to make time for myself each and every day.
Since high school, I’ve been treating myself to at-home “spa days” each week and ritualistic skincare practices every day. I use this time to relax, recharge and focus on myself – something that can be hard to come by sometimes. This has always been something that I’ve looked forward to and enjoyed doing over the years! I try to make it a true luxury experience… and I think that’s what makes my self-care routine so special. It’s MY time and I make it a priority in my life because it’s important to me.
I hope that by sharing a peek into my self-care routine, you feel inspired to try these ideas out for yourself! 😉
My Self-Care Routine: 3 Simple Ways to Show Self-Love
I love starting off my self-care routine with a warm bubble bath! Aside from the bubbles, I also love adding either lavender or mint bath salts or a glittery bath bomb (depending on my mood haha!) along with my secret weapon… a few cap fulls of extra virgin olive oil! I’ve been doing this since I was a teen and I recently found out that Sophia Loren also did this as well! That definitely explains why she aged so gracefully 😉 I know that olive oil might sound like an odd thing to add to a bath but it moisturizes your skin like no other. I also use a frozen eye mask while I’m bathing to de-puff my eyes. After toweling off, I apply lotion to hydrate further.
When it comes to nails, I’m pretty simple and I relish in painting my own. Having freshly painted nails makes me feel pretty and put-together even when I’m not wearing makeup. For fingernails, I tend to go for colors that are more sophisticated and easily matched to my outfits such as light pink, mauve, and light neutrals. For my toenails, I like to have a little more fun so I typically choose bolder hues depending on the season. My current faves are Barbie pink and lilac! I also use a foot file to keep my feet super soft and finish off with a thick foot cream that I cover with soft, thick socks until absorbed completely.
Perhaps my favorite part of my self-care routine is giving myself a mini-facial! Skincare is extremely important to me and has been a passion of mine for many years. These Lexli products are a must for baby soft skin and a youthful glow!
- After cleansing my face, I love using the Lightening Lift brightening and firming aloe vera face mask… which might be the best mask I’ve ever used! It brightens and tightens the skin leaving behind minimized pores, a firmer appearance and a visible glow (even after just one use).
- After washing off the mask, I apply the AloeGlyC glycolic acid exfoliator. It brightens up dull skin, refines pores and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. Definitely a miracle product! Unlike most exfoliators, you don’t wash it off. It needs to sit for 10-15 minutes so I usually take this time to do some reading.
- Once the exfoliator has soaked in, I follow up with the A-Firm-Ative anti-aging peptide serum. It soothes, hydrates and nurtures skin while leaving it super soft.
- To finish up, I apply the Revital-Eyes rejuvenating and firming eye cream to further hydrate, de-puff and reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
