Is there anything more effortlessly sophisticated than French girl style? I feel like this is a style that a lot of people like to imitate and it’s not hard to see why. When I think of French girl style, I think of effortless elegance. Parisian women have the incredible ability to pull off a timeless style that is comfortable, practical, elegant and chic all at once. It’s no surprise why it’s highly imitated with designers like Chanel, Givenchy and Dior and style muses like Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn and Jane Birkin. Read on for seven tips for mastering French girl style!

7 Tips for Mastering French Girl Style
Quality Over Quantity
Choose high quality fabrics like silk, cashmere, cotton and wool. Spend more on items that you can wear over and over rather than items that fall apart easily or go out of style quickly.
Choose Timeless Designs
Choose designs that can easily be mixed and matched with one another and with other items in your wardrobe. When it comes to design details, look for simplicity and clean lines. You don’t have to give up frills entirely though – just make sure they are understated. This top is the perfect amount of frilly and classic 🙂
Utilize Basics
Basics are much easier to style and look timeless and elegant. Keep your overall look clean, simple and polished (but not too polished ha!).
Use Neutral Tones
Overall, neutral tones look much more expensive and match well with anything (including one another). Look for colors like white, beige, camel, navy, grey, and black. This blush-nude coat is such a dreamy wardrobe staple!
Wear Proper Fitting Clothing
I feel like this is an important tip for any style but especially when it comes to French girl style. Make sure clothing fits properly (not too small, large, short or long). Proper fitting clothing looks much more expensive and high end.
Avoid Logos
Instead of plastering logos all over your outfit, choose items that forgo this detail. If you do choose to wear designer items, be more discrete about it.
Highlight the Right Items
Choose to highlight one statement piece rather than mixing together a lot of statement items all at once. Personally, I love wearing interesting pieces and can sometimes come off as a bit of a maximalist so I like to tone it down when it comes to French girl style inspiration.

One brand that really stands out in the French style realm is BA&SH. One of my all-time favorite dresses was designed by BA&SH and I’ve worn it to Puerto Vallarta, Palm Springs, and on my very first cruise! Ahh I love it so much (and I get SO many compliments when I wear it)! And if that’s not enough to make you swoon, just wait until you see their new collection. It’s filled with beautiful neutrals, cozy sweaters, chic coats, autumnal dresses and of course, the lovely top and coat that I’m wearing. I literally want everything!!
