Today, I’m talking all about how to buy luxury handbags from StockX as well as sharing my own experience with buying my very first luxury handbag!
HOW TO BUY LUXURY HANDBAGS FROM STOCKX
Some of you may already be familiar with StockX but if not, allow me to introduce you. StockX is the first stock exchange platform for things: think sneakers and luxury handbags. They have an amazing selection that changes daily of the most sought after designers including Prada, Chanel, Gucci, Hermes, Goyard, Givenchy, and Louis Vuitton. All luxury handbags are in excellent pre-owned condition so its the perfect opportunity to find vintage, out of season, out of stock and current items or even that dream bag that got away. What makes StockX different and unlike other re-sellers is the unique way it works. While StockX has large catalog of bags, not all bags are available at any given time as the inventory of bags changes frequently. If a bag has an active “Ask” (asking price), then that bag is currently available for purchase. You can then bid on the bag or buy it for the asking price (view active Asks here). The most unique thing about this site is that you can actually bid on a bag that doesn’t currently have an active asking price. If you find a bag that you can’t live without but isn’t currently available, you can input a price that you are willing to pay for it and wait for sellers to come to you with the available inventory. Your bid is valid up to 60 days (or less) and can be cancelled at anytime. StockX also also offers $50 off your first handbag purchase!
Now that you know all about how it works, I’d love to share my experience with you! While I had heard of StockX before thanks to my husband and brother’s shoe obsessions, I hadn’t actually used it. I thought the concept was interesting and unlike anything else I’d heard of. I started perusing the site in search of luxury handbags and came across so many amazing finds! I found a gorgeous velvet Gucci that I had been lusting after, a classic black Chanel that would go with everything, a blush Gucci backpack that would be perfect for my upcoming trips and a pastel pink Louis Vuitton in the most perfect color and shape. With the abundance of incredibly stunning handbags, deciding which one to choose was definitely the hardest decision. What’s even more difficult is that these bags go FAST! A lot of the more popular ones can sell within hours of a seller listing it so if you find something that you can’t live without, you have act fast.
It took me a while to choose because I wanted my first bag to be something that was practical and neutral in color. I wanted a bag that I would be able to wear with different outfits, a variety of colors and that would look great dressed up or dressed down. The bag I had envisioned, a taupe/blush colored Gucci Marmont, wasn’t actively available at the time so I checked the website multiple times a day until I finally saw it listed! I snatched that thing up so fast haha!
After purchasing the bag, it was sent to StockX for authentication. This process happens for every item sold to verify that it’s real and to ensure that you don’t get sold a fake item. Aside from authenticating the item, they also thoroughly check to make sure that the bag is in excellent condition. They check things like heavy stains, discoloration, water damage, cracks, stitching and broken or scratched hardware to ensure that the bag looks nearly brand new and that no damage is present before sending.
When my bag arrived, I was over the moon! It looked brand new and I had a hard time believing that it was pre-owned because there are no visible flaws on the interior or exterior of the bag. It also came well-packaged in a dust bag and box. My first impression of the bag was that it was not only in excellent condition, but it was also absolutely stunning! It really does go with everything in my closet and I’m so glad I waited for my perfect bag. The process of buying through StockX was easy and seamless.
