Little River Inn Review: A Charming Coastal Escape Near Mendocino, CA
🌊 Location & Coastal Setting
Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Little River Inn offers sweeping views of the Mendocino coastline. It’s close enough to all the shops and cafés of Mendocino Village, yet just far enough away to feel completely peaceful and private. The property is surrounded by redwood trees and lush greenery, creating a dreamlike setting that feels both romantic and restorative.
The views are truly out of this world! From the moment I stepped foot on property, I felt immersed in my very own storybook. The hotel itself is a cottagecore dream with intricate victorian architecture, dreamy color palettes and a relaxing feel. The staff was also super helpful and answered all of our questions! They even gave us a couple of recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area.
🍽 On-Site Dining
One of the highlights of staying at Little River Inn is their on-site restaurant and bar, which serves elevated coastal cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients. From decadent crab cakes to fluffy buttermilk pancakes and freshly-caught fish, everything feels comforting and homemade. The restaurant also has beautiful ocean views, making it the perfect place for a cozy breakfast or a romantic dinner for two.
We had the pleasure of having dinner here one night and it was definitely memorable in the best way! Our waiter was truly one of the best I’ve ever had from any restaurant. They were welcoming and considerate of my food allergies, which is huge. I ordered a burger (no suirprise haha!) and my husband ordered a steak. Everything was delicious and I have to say, we had the best view overlooking the ocean at sunset.
🛏 Rooms with a View
Nearly every room at Little River Inn includes spectacular ocean views, along with cozy fireplaces, plush bedding, and private decks or patios. Some rooms even feature Jacuzzi soaking tubs—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. If you’re celebrating something special, book one of the oceanfront deluxe rooms for the most magical sunrise and sunset views (ask me how I know lol!).
This was probably our favorite part of the room. Our room was one of the four Van Damme units located across the street from the main property. The ocean views are unreal and are probably among the most impressive of any property I’ve stayed at anywhere. Our deck came equipped with two rocking chairs and a hot tub. The hot tub was honestly the perfect place to relax while catching a sunrise or sunset! Definitely my favorite ocean view hotel in Mendocino!

Little River Inn Review – Alice Abbot Room
What I really loved about Little River Inn is the fact that I could do a full room tour before I even stepped foot on the property. It was nice to see how the room was laid out and it made me even more excited for our stay. This was also one of those rare cases where the room actually looked even better than the photos!
The Alice Abbot room at the Little River Inn Mendocino was spacious, inviting and beautiful decorated. There were tons of windows to let in natural light and I loved all of the little extras like the fireplace, jacuzzi tub, mini fridge, and more. Everything was clean, comfortable and luxurious. My husband even loved the room! We were so sad to leave!
