I hope you all had the most amazing weekend! Mine was busy but productive. I am just about done with my clean out (I only have my bathroom left and I am astonished at the amount of skincare/beauty products I have haha!) and I am already feeling SO much better! It’s just crazy how much clutter weighs you down. Anyway, today I’m sharing this darling outfit and how I like to dress up flat ankle boots!

I wore this outfit yesterday while we were out and about running errands for our upcoming camping trip. I just love any excuse to get dressed up…even if that means going to Target lol! The weather is finally starting to cool down after nearly six months of triple digit temperatures so my fall wardrobe is in full effect 😉 One of my favorite things to wear for fall are boots, of course. I especially love styling them with dresses and my fall weekend style tends to be on the more relaxed and boho side. Since I do typically dress up a little more, I use flat ankle boots to dress down my looks.
Flat ankle boots are usually reserved for more casual outfits – jeans and a sweater, flowy maxi skirts and long sleeve dresses (all of which I love, by the way). But how do you dress up such a casual boot? When I think dressed up, I think structure…a structured top or a structured skirt or a structured handbag. I started pairing different items together and came up with this outfit! First off, I love this pretty plum hue for fall and thought the stud details were a nice edgy juxtaposition from my ultra feminine style. I kept the deep plum color of these flat ankle boots in mind and decided to pair it with differing hues of the same color family.
One of my favorite fall outfit combos is a long sleeve top with a shorter skirt. I think it’s playful yet stylish! This skirt is one of my favorites from many seasons ago (last seen in this post) and I love that the boots pulled out the deeper shades in the floral print. It’s structured yet flouncy and dresses up the boots in a chic way. I pulled the lighter shade from the skirt and found a top that matched perfectly! I’m obsessed with the color and details of this top and love that it can easily be dressed up or down. Higher necklines tend look a bit more dressy, especially when tucked into something such as a skirt or a pair of slacks. Swapping out this top for a chunky sweater would also be a super cute dressy/casual combo. For my accessories, I chose a structured handbag and understated, dainty jewels. Are you a fan of this look?
