If there is one thing I’m loving this summer, it’s cottagecore everything! I feel like fashion fantasy is becoming a reality and I am living.for.it. Our trip to Carmel by-the-sea was a cottagecore paradise with the abundance of florals, greenery and unmatched natural beauty so I knew this outfit would blend right in. Read on for three simple ways to create a cottagecore aesthetic outfit (*hint* I’m wearing all three)!
How to Create a Cottagecore Aesthetic Outfit
When I think of cottagecore, a beautiful maxi comes to mind. There are several styles that I feel align best with the cottagecore aesthetic including peasant, pinafore and flowy maxi styles! Cottagecore dresses seem to have an ease about them. They are comfortable, chic and have a slightly vintage look, which I love! The beauties are often fabricated in florals, solids and even prints like gingham and can have beautiful, feminine details like tiers, ruffles, puff sleeves, etc.
It’s no surprise that puff sleeves continue to trend into the summer! They are fun, flirty and of course, ultra feminine. Look for a twirly dress with puff sleeves or even layer a puff sleeve top like the one I’m wearing above under an adorable sleeveless dress. And if you’re only looking to dip your toes into creating a cottagecore aesthetic outfit, pair a puff sleeve top with a skirt or pair of jeans.
I feel like hats are the perfect cottagecore accessory! Not only are they conveniently useful for the summer sunshine but they pair incredibly well with peasant tops, maxi dresses and the like. If you’re not into hats but you still love the idea of the cottagecore aesthetic, try accessorizing your outfit with a simple hair bow, ribbon or hair scarf instead to finish off that sweet feminine look.
