Growing up, my great-grandmother owned an antique store. I always looked forward to spending the weekends with her helping around the shop and learning the history behind her beautiful collections. She owned the most stunning Tiffany lamps, an assortment of rare porcelain dolls and the most incredible jewelry collection among other things. One of my favorite thing to do was to look through her jewelry as she told me about each piece. This is where my love of vintage started. She gave me a few pieces that I still cherish to this day, many of which include turquoise since she was also of Native American heritage.

Over the years, I’ve collected things here and there – a few coats, a couple of dresses and a ton of vanity essentials including the gorgeous vanity set you see in a lot of my beauty posts, a few mirrored trays, an Art Deco makeup compact and a handful of unique fragrance bottles that were gifted from my mom. Perhaps my most prized possession though is the full set of blush pink depression glass that was handed down to me from mom as a wedding gift. Antique items have always played a special role in my life and that might be the very reason that I’m so drawn to vintage style clothing.

Vintage style itself can be quite feminine depending on the decade (my favorites are from the 1920s to the 1970s) and while I don’t dress in head-to-toe vintage everyday, I tend to incorporate little details from these eras in my daily style whether it’s an actual vintage item or something modern with vintage style details. This outfit reminds me of one of my favorite eras, the 1940s. This Review Australia polka dot dress was calling my name immediately upon seeing it!  The luxe silky fabric and playful polka dots transport me back to a time in the past while the shape and design remain classic yet still very wearable by today’s standards. I just love that it has a vintage style with modern flair! Styling it with a small frilly handbag of the same color and print adds a dash of femininity yet brings it into the present. And of course, no feminine vintage style outfit would be complete without these darling Charlie Stone heels! These shoes remind me of a mix of an oxford and a saddle shoe (I had a pair when I was a kid!). The design, t-strap detail and heel height exude vintage vibes in a chic Parisian kind of way but can easily be styled with an array of outfits for just a hint of retro. To make it even more Lizzie-esque, I added my favorite rose gold jewels and a trendy yet classic pearl headband to finish off the look.
