Dopamine dressing was a trendy term coined from TikTok. In a nutshell, it’s dressing for joy, wearing clothing that makes YOU happy and purposely choosing items that give you a little pep in your step (hence the term Dopamine). You wear outfits that make you feel good.
Although dopamine dressing is a newish term, it’s not a new belief. I’ve always been a believer in wearing clothing that not only makes you look good but that makes you feel good. We only have one life to live after all, so why not wear something that makes you feel confident, beautiful and happy?
I’ve never been one to give into peer pressure – I’ve always worn what I liked no matter what people think because truly, when you wear what you love, it affects your life in the best way. It can also affect others as well! I can’t tell you how many times readers and followers have told me that they love following my account purely because my outfits make them happy. What a compliment! If you are being true to yourself, others will appreciate that.
What does dopamine dressing look like? It can look like different things to different people but I think when most think about the term, they envision bright, colorful and happy clothing. This is where Jayley Collection comes in. This is a new brand to me but holy moly, if there was ever a brand created for dopamine dressing, it’s this one. Just imagine the most unique and colorful coats and dresses with whimsical patterns, unique fabrics and fun details!
I absolutely adore the floral dress! The print is really beautiful and it’s perfect for sunny summer day or beach vacation. The sequin trench coat, on the other hand, is quite the statement piece! Seriously, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s made of hot pink velvet with shimmering sequins from head to toe. You could wear it with anything and turn heads! It’s pretty bold but let’s just say that I’ve been influenced by the Barbie movie. I’ve been sporting hot pink everything since it came out and I will not apologize haha! This coat is like Barbie meets Elton John 😉
For accessories, I kept everything on the simple side with a touch of retro flair. Overall, it’s very fun and whimsical look (and I definitely felt that dopamine rush while wearing it). So excited to wear this pretty sequin coat more this fall!
