For those like me that have always been drawn to this style before a label was put on it, this trend is a dream come true. All the girly girls are rejoicing because we can FINALLY find fashion that fits our style. I feel like it was made for me!! <3

You might be wondering “What is coquette style?” The coquette aesthetic is a fashion trend that focuses on hyper feminine styles and dainty details. It has a mix of romantic, whimsical and sweet elements from a variety of styles and fashion decades. Personally, I think the trend draws inspiration from the Victorian era along with the 1940s-60s. The Victorian era is full of frills and princess silhouettes that breathe life into this trend. However, I also see elements like 1940s glamour (silk slip dresses, luxe fabrics and bias cut maxis), 1950s femininity (bows, pastels and ultra feminine silhouettes) and 1960s playfulness (short lengths, Bardot bangs and headbands).

There’s also a mix of newer trends like cottage-core, princess-core and ballet-core (dainty florals, puff sleeves, ribbons galore and soft pastels). This trend is incredibly delicate and girly and would be perfect for my romantic and whimsical dressers (but it could truly work for all of them in some instance). This coquette aesthetic dress is the dreamiest of them all! It incorporates colorful 3D florals, mixed media lace and puff sleeves for a whimsical and fun look. I added my favorite heart-shaped handbag, vintage ruffled gloves, a bow headband, and a pearl necklace to accessorize. For shoes, I went full ballet-core with ribbon heels. The pink feather fan is the perfect finishing touch!
