Feminine fashion blogger Elizabeth Hugen of Lizzie in Lace shares her simple tips on How to Be Glamorous Everyday featuring a feminine outfit, a floral tulle maxi dress fit for a princess

I’ve been watching a lot of classic Hollywood movies as of late. While I love the story lines and overall aesthetic, I can’t help but see just how glamorous these actresses are. From the outfits to the set design to the details to the actresses themselves, Old Hollywood films just evoke glamour in every way imagineable.

I know that real life may not have been quite as glamorous back then but I like to think that the style of the movies themselves inspire me to live a little more glamorously. I’ve been doing a few easy things to unleash my inner glamour goddess and I’m excited to share! Read on for my tips on how to be glamorous everyday!

Prepare Your Wardrobe

The little details say a lot about a person. I think it’s important to always make sure your garments are steamed and lint free. I love using my little portable steamer! It’s super easy to use and they are fairly affordable. A simple lint roller also works wonders, especially if you have pets.

Make an effort

*Sigh* Gone are the days of glitz and glamour. Our new reality is full of casual dressing and minimal effort (just being honest lol!). This might be seem obvious but the first step to looking glamorous is to take care of yourself. Pay attention to your hygiene, create a skincare routine, brush your teeth, keep your hair trimmed, etc.

I notice that when I do this on a consistent basis, I feel much more confident in who I am and how I present myself to the world. I also use this as a therapy of sorts. My self-care time is always does such positive things for my mental health! Need some tips on how to create the most relaxing at-home spa day? Check out this post!

Hair and Makeup

While you don’t necessarily have to be all decked out in a full face of makeup and a perfect hairdo, it’s important to ensure that everything is clean and tidy. Enhance your features in a natural and flattering way.

For a classy everyday makeup look, keep it simple and timeless with colors that flatter you. I personally wear a lot of pinks to bring out my green eyes! If you prefer not to wear makeup everyday, you can still look nice with a great skincare routine and minimal products. I love wearing tinted SPF moisturizer, a gel cheek color and tinted lip oil. For an ultra glamorous look, add in some sparkle or a sultry smokey eye.

For everyday hair, keep it simple and timeless. My hair is almost always down but I do love to create beautiful ponytails, top knots, braids and more. I also love incorporating hair accessories into my outfits! The most important thing for a glamorous look, in my opinion, is ensuring that your hair looks clean. Need some ideas? Accessorize

In old Hollywood films, accessories are very much part of everyday outfits and honestly, they are my favorite part of getting dressed. Nothing makes me feel more glamorous than jewelry. A little sparkle goes a long way but truthfully, I’ll never say no to extra bling. Aside from jewelry, I love wearing headbands, hats, and every so often, gloves. Sunglasses and silk scarves are always ultra glamorous as well!

Dress to Impress

When it comes to getting dressed, I think it’s important to always wear what makes you feel your best! Choose items that flatter your figure and if you know your color season, choose colors that look good on you! I have more of an hourglass shape so I always like to emphasize my waist. I’m also very petite (4’11”) so I try to avoid wearing items that are too baggy or overpowering. Instead, I stick with things that I know work for me – dresses and skirts with a defined waist line. It helps that these are also my favorite things to wear! They make me feel so feminine!

In terms of colors, I’m still getting the hang of this color season thing but I *think* I’m a light summer. I notice that I look better in color rather than neutrals as well. This doesn’t mean that I box myself into this color season. I truly wear whatever I want and whatever makes me feel my best. It’s moreso a great starting point if you’re unsure of what may look good on you. With time, it should come more naturally.

Details and silhouette are also great things to consider! I’ve gotten into style essences recently as well. While I do love simple silhouettes, I notice that frilly details and romantic designs tend to look better on me. This is also what I naturally gravitate toward!

For a glamorous everyday look, it’s most important to feel good in what you wear. You don’t have to impress anyone else but it’s does feel good when you look good!

For the glamorous style personality – this is completely different. You can take my free quiz here to see which feminine style personality you are!

Pay Attention to Details

Are your nails chipped? Are threads hanging from your skirt? Do you have a run in tights? You don’t necessarily need to look perfect but being polished is a big part of looking glamorous.

Indulge in Fragrance

Glamorous women always smell delightful! Create a signature scent for yourself or change it up based on the seasons or how you feel. Personally, I love matching my fragrance with my outfit or season. Check out my favorite feminine fragrances in this post!

Make Healthy Choices

Glamour is about looking and feeling your best! I notice that I look and feel my best when I make healthy decisions. This varies for everyone so it’s important to make choices that best benefit you and your goals. For me this means, ensuring I get at least 8 hours of sleep, drinking enough water, making better food choices and staying active.

I never realized how important sleep was until I got older and saw how it affected other parts of my life. I’ve developed a morning and evening routine that I very much look forward to each day. For water, I actually LOVE water and have no problem drinking it but I recently got a water bottle with a sensor that has helped remind me about my intake on busy days.

Regarding food, I love sweets! I don’t do “diets” and I don’t deprive myself of things that I love. The game-changer was actually when I developed food allergies. I switched to much healthier options and I can still make some my favorite foods and treats with healthier ingredients. I also work from home so I’m not as active as I once was. I also don’t go to the gym anymore. Instead, I love taking walks around the neighborhood, engaging in yoga and pilates YouTube videos and riding my stationary bike.

Be Confident

A glamorous lady is a confident one. For many years, I was very insecure and lacked the confidence that I craved. I didn’t realize just how important it is. I could truly write so much about this but I’ll keep it short – confidence comes from within. Looking and feeling beautiful certainly helps but you have to believe that you are beautiful, wonderful and amazing on the inside too (and you are). Don’t be afraid to sparkle! Check out my confidence tips in this post!
