Happy Friday, lovelies!
I hope you are enjoying your week 🙂 Today, I’m sharing this drop dead gorgeous outfit ANDDD what a typical day is like for me as a fashion blogger! I’ve gotten a ton of DM’s and messages asking about blogging advice and what exactly I do so I am very excited to share it with you! Just a fair warning: this post is more photo heavy than normal. I have been experimenting with RAW photos and my editing. Let me know what you think!
A Day in the Life of a Fashion Blogger
Outfit Details
Sweater: LC Lauren Conrad (old – similar here) | Skirt: Morning Lavender c/o | Boots: Seychelles c/o | Clutch c/o | Necklace: BaubleBar | Headband: Anthropologie (old)
Even though I am skilled in many forms of art, I am by no means a professional photographer. In fact, this was the first time that I took photos in RAW instead of jPeg and it was very daunting and frustrating. I have been feeling so insecure about my photos so I wanted to try something different. I am not kidding when I say that I spent HOURS and HOURS learning and experimenting with different editing styles this week. I’m still not sure how I feel about RAW, but I do love how these images turned out and I hope you do too! 🙂
On to my outfit! This skirt was love at first sight! It is just so stunning!! I got the petite version and it fits perfectly with a bit of a heel (I’m 4’11”). I wanted to style it for fall so I added this cropped sweater that I bought a few seasons ago. I knew these taupe suede and corduroy boots would look perfect with it! I topped it off with a gorgeous pink jeweled necklace, dainty gold pearl headband and a lovely grey clutch. This is definitely one of my favorite looks of the season so far!
So I get a ton of questions about what it is like to be a blogger and I am so excited to share with you what a typical day looks like! Everyday is very different so I will do my best to explain it. While I do work “full-time hours” for the blog, I am not completely full time…yet. I have cut down drastically on substitute teaching over the last year to focus more on the blog and still work roughly 30 hours a week teaching guitar and tutoring english, math and French. Needless to say, I am a very busy lady!
Tools like ProWritingAid save time before uploading blog posts, social media updates, and emails. Honestly, I’m not sure it would be possible to juggle everything if it wasn’t for modern tech features. Any aspiring bloggers should support themselves with the right tools from day one.
So here is what a typical day looks like for me:
*****
MY FASHION BLOGGER SCHEDULE:
6am: Wake up, eat breakfast, check social media, join link-ups and create my to-do list for the day OR hit the gym. When I go to the gym, I use this time to catch up on comments and emails while I’m on the treadmill before I start weights. Yes, I am THAT girl on her phone haha!
7am: Read and comment on other blogs. Check email. If there aren’t too many emails, I will do research, plan posts, set goals, or do some brainstorming.
8am: Catch up on any pressing work or submissions for projects. If I have time, I will edit a batch of photos or start writing a post.
8:30am: Get my first post ready for Instagram. I re-edit the photo on my phone, get my hashtags ready and engage with other bloggers/followers.
9am: Post on Instagram. Continue engaging for half an hour or so.
9:30am: I use this time for Pinterest, Facebook posting, and any other social media site that needs attention.
10am: This is a two hour block that varies day to day, but I use this time to either edit multiple batches of photos, write blog posts, pitch to brands, social media editing/planning, and any type of maintenance (updates, research, book keeping, meetings, video editing practice, or learning a new skill).
Noon: I eat lunch and make myself watch tv for half an hour (otherwise, I will work right through it lol!)
12:30pm: Second round of responding emails.
1pm: I use this time to take care of any pressing needs, outstanding tasks, outfit planning for future posts or to take a batch of flat lay photos.
2pm: Get my second post ready for Instagram and engage (same as before). I will usually post a story if I have a blog post up.
2:30-2:45pm-ish: Post on Instagram. No engaging after this one because I don’t have time, so I do it all before I post.
2:30-2:45pm: Leave for guitar lessons/tutoring (Monday-Thursday). I drive 20 minutes to an hour one way depending on the day so I spend a lot of time in my car. During this time, I listen to LOTS of podcasts about blogging and business or jam out to my favorite tunes 😉 If it’s Friday, then I use this time to run errands for the week, clean and organize, and to get general things done around the apartment.
7pm-8pm: I return home. I cook dinner (if it’s not already done by my husband) and hang out with him before he goes to bed. This is really the only time I see him during the day (except when he leaves for work in the morning) so I try to make the best of it. We like to relax and watch some of our favorite shows (lately, it’s been Impractical Jokers, AHS, anything on the ID channel, re-runs of Parks and Rec on Netflix or a movie of some sort).
9:30-10pm: Hubby goes to sleep and I start working on the blog again. I start with another round of emails and then start writing my post for the next day if it isn’t already done. If it is, then I use this time to read for 30 minutes before bed.
10:30pm-midnight: SLEEP. I am NOT a night owl but I use to stay up until past 1am to get work done. I have been doing MUCH better lately by going to sleep around 10pm or so 🙂
*****
As you can see, I have a VERY busy schedule and work very long days. As a fashion blogger, I do so many things and wear many, many different hats. I don’t have an assistant to help me so I literally do everything myself. It doesn’t bother me too much of the time because I absolutely LOVE my blog and have such a passion for it, but I do think that it’s important to include some “me time” as well. I do take little breaks here and there during the day to decompress and I treat myself to a mini-facial every single day since most of my time is spent working ;-). I definitely don’t follow this to a T because every day is different and some days I spend doing more of one thing than another, but this is a general idea of what my schedule looks like.
For those of you asking, I hope this helps! I bet that a lot of you non-bloggers will be very surprised exactly how much time goes into running a blog. It’s mind-boggling lol! And although being a fashion blogger is A LOT of work, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Check out this post to see why I started my blog <3

Thanks so much Jacqui! I bet you would look gorgeous in it!

Thanks so much Kathrine!
I like how you force yourself to watch tv while you eat lunch! I do the same thing – otherwise I will let my plate sit there and just keep working, haha!
What a beautiful skirt!

Twins! haha! I HAVE TO otherwise I will literally work all day!!
Thanks for sharing your daily schedule. It’s a blessing and difficult at times to work from home because it’s too easy to just keep on working. I’m right there with you, I work through breakfast, but make myself stop for half an hour at lunch to eat. Great post! Xo Jonet

Of course! I am the same way. I have to make myself, otherwise I will just work, work, work!
I love this — I feel like people really have no idea!
I agree! There is SO much that goes into it.
Your skirt is so gorgeous and wow you have a busy day! I don’t think I could wake up at 6am every day HAHA! Go girl!
Thanks so much Taylor! I did sleep in until 6:45am this morning HAHA!
Oh my goodness, that skirt and those booties are perfection! You’re killing it, girl.

Thanks so much Natalie!
Liz, this outfit! I love it! And those booties are magnificent! Thank you for sharing your schedule. I find it interesting to see how other bloggers schedule their time, etc. And we all do it differently depending on our other obligations. Have a great weekend!

Definitely! I love reading about other people’s days too!
You always find the most amazing places to take photos! I especially love this one!
Thanks so much Amy!
First this outfit is totally you and absolutely fabulous, Liz!
And isn’t it crazy how much time is involved in blogging?? I feel like I’m never caught up!
Have a great weekend!!

So crazy! Me too! My husband always jokes about how many to-do lists I make every day! LOL!
Obsessing over this look! You look fabulous 😉 blogging does take a lot of work, but your time management is on point gf! I need to set a schedule like yours because I am already getting overwhelmed with all of my daily task
Thanks for sharing and hosting

It definitely hasn’t always been this way lol! A schedule helps, for sure!
I love shooting RAW and the flexibility it offers with editing. There is a learning curve, but I think it is so worth it in the end. Pretty photos!
Thanks so much for the encouragement! It’s so tough!
Great, thorough post! I haven’t tried editing RAW yet, but I really want to! Everyone says it’s way better, but I guess I just don’t get it yet haha Love your daily schedule too. Wish I had all the time to blog but I also have a full-time job. It’s so hard with it getting dark so early on the east coast. No time for photos! Ugh your pics are gorgeous. Cheers!
It’s okay. I still don’t get RAW lol! I understand! I actually work full time too. Between my other business and blogging, it’s about 70-80+ hours of work a week. I substitute teach when and if I have time. And we actually take photos every other weekend! It works out because my husband leaves early for work and I get home late from my other job so we don’t have time to do it during the week either. Doing a batch of outfits every other weekend is much more realistic 🙂
Wow! Your schedule is packed! I looove the skirt! It’s the perfect shade of pink and I love how flowy it is! 🙂
xo, Chloe // https://funinthecloset.com/skye-footwear-sneakers/
Thanks so much Chloe! I’m in the process of trying to par it down lol!
It is great that you have a regular schedule though I do agree it is a very long day. I started giving myself a rule of I will not work past X time. It helps alot.
I definitely need to do something like that! I hate leaving work incomplete though. I stress out lol!
I loved reading this post! I also think the photos turned out really well and are beautiful as always 🙂
I think I need this skirt in my life and I’m so happy it comes in petite!
Thanks so much Courtney! You are too sweet! Yay for petite!
As a new blogger, I’ve heard a lot about link-ups. Can you tell me about them, and how to get started?
Hi Sara! All you do it click the blue box at the bottom of this post. It will take you to a different window where you enter your blog post URL, name and email. Your post will then show up at the bottom of this page and people can click on it to visit your site!
What a great post! Blogging is a lot of hard work, and I’m sure I don’t commit as much time to it as you do. I just don’t have that kind of time outside of my other pursuits. However, I do work on it a lot at night.
Oh gosh, girl. I feel like my day never ends sometimes because I have other things outside of blogging as well LOL! But I don’t feel like there is a right or wrong way to do it. We do whatever works for us! 😀
Great post to read! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Nancy!
Great schedule for the day Lizzie! And so cute in this blush pink color!
Thanks so much Jessica!
Lovely and delicate outfit Lizzie 😉 Cute booties as well 😉 Enjoy a great week-end xx

Thanks so much Louis!
Beautiful photos! I really need to start experimenting with shooting in RAW. I love your pink maxi skirt, so pretty. Blogging really is non-stop isn’t it? My husband often remarks at how much time it takes up, so much so that I’ve had to turn off the laptop in the evenings to avoid an argument, which then makes me anxious that I’ll have too much to do the next day!

RAW is so different!! It’s very daunting. I know exactly what you mean! My husband says the same thing. Now that the blog has a little more traction, he understands that there are deadlines BUT this is exactly why I had to schedule time in for him because otherwise I work, work, work. I make it a point to put away my laptop and phone and just be in the moment with him. It has forced me to schedule my time a little better to ensure that I don’t have a mountain of work to do after he goes to sleep 🙂
You are so organized, I am so jealous! I need to start getting up earlier and get on a stricter schedule, I am awful!
LOL! It took forever to get to this point haha!
Gorgeous photos! I am often insecure and frustrated about photography as well. Soooooo many people think that blogging is easy. They don’t realize there are so many moving parts in order to make it successful! Thank you for sharing your schedule because it reminds me that I am doing things right by working on mine so much! PS the pink skirt is adorable!
Thanks so much Brooke! We have so many jobs and different hats to wear. It is definitely very difficult to do it all alone, but that’s what we do 🙂
Loved this post! Being a blogger is sure super busy!!
I agree!
What a great post, it is so cool to see how different people break down their days!
Thanks so much Adaleta!
Your schedule is a lot like mines except I have a one year old! So i’m multitasking all day until babe finishes up his work then I can completely focus on blogging. But other then that there is always a baby in my hand watching Elmo while I’m blogging LOL!!!
Oh my goodness! I cannot even imagine. Mamas are so incredible!!
First of all you look darling, the long pink flowy skirt and the sweater looks so fab. Second, Happy Weekend 🙂

Thanks so much Annette!
Ah I feel so guilting because I am such a night owl. I sometimes stay up until 3 and then get up at 10. I don’t know how you can function on so little sleep. I need at least 7 hours. I have always wanted to get up early but it is so hard for me. I took a lightroom class a year ago and started shooting in Raw it was so daunting at first but a huge game changed in the end.

LOL! I have caught up so I’ve been trying to get at least 8 hours of sleep 9 I was so behind for a while!). Getting up early is SO hard!! Wow, I wish they offered a class like that here! Your photos always look stunning!
This is such a fun post and I LOVE that skirt
Thanks so much!
I love that skirt on your! You look absolutely fabulous girl! I also loved reading about your day, I work full time and blog on the side, my goal is to one day be full time 🙂
I am hoping to be full-time sometime soon 🙂 I have like three jobs lol!
Hi Lizzie,
I think it is amazing what you are doing. Thank you for sharing your typical day with us. It is so different when you have a baby…your time becomes very sparse…:-))
Hugs and have a lovely rest of the weekend,
Miri

Oh my goodness! I could not even imagine having a baby right now. I don’t how you do it!! Definitely super woman 😉
I love the movement this skirt has! Such gorgeous pictures!
Thanks so much Ashley!
That skirt is so romantic!! Love the details you shared about your life too!
Thanks so much Rachel!
Your outfit is incredible!!!! And, thanks SO much for sharing your daily schedule. Your schedule proves that we work really hard!!!!
WE DO! This is hardest I’ve EVER worked at anything lol!
That skirt is absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks so much Gita!
Actually I do work full time outside the blog. I own another business and substitute teach. My work hours are anywhere from 70-80+ hours per week for everything. This is just a typical day and it’s still at least 16 hours -ugh! Full time blogging would definitely be more preferred 😉
I love reading posts like this! You look gorgeous in that skirt!
Thanks so much Annie!
Yes! We are such busy bees!
Thanks so much Kristin! I really appreciate that!
Definitely! We are all so busy!
Girl, we are multitasking queens! I work full-time too, but I’m lucky that I can schedule my hours/days usually. It’s so hard to make time for everything!
Thanks so much Sarah!
Me too!
It’s so hard to stay on top it sometimes lol!
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much Erin!
Thanks so much Anna!
I’m not full-time just yet…hopefully sometime soon 🙂 But yes, SO much work!
Yay twinsies! We are busy bees!
I agree! And I am totally one of those people that cannot have incomplete work so I’m always trying to get everything done lol!
Thanks so much Kelly!
Thanks so much Maggie! It’s a work in progress 😉
LOL! It’s has to be otherwise I’m a mess! haha
Thanks so much Amy Ann! I’m not full-time just yet (I still have my other jobs), but hopefully soon 🙂
Thanks so much Ruth!
Thanks so much Lanae! I appreciate it!
LOL! I am glad to know that I’M NOT crazy haha! I was wondering if I was the only working these insane hours haha
Thanks so much Michelle! It’s definitely going to be a process ahaha
Thanks so much!
It’s so hard, but I am lucky that I can create hours for all of my jobs so it’s much flexible and manageable. When I started blogging, I was a full-time substitute working long term everyday out of town and still teaching guitar LOL! I would love to see how you balance it!
Thanks so much Jess! Definitely so much to learn! It’s so time consuming, but you do a great job!
Thanks so much Krystin!
Thanks so much liz!
Thanks so much Dylan! So busy!
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much Cheryl! I definitely don’t have any photo tips to share lol! I wish 🙂
Thanks so much Mary! Exactly what I needed to hear. I was SO frustrated with the process. Thank you for sharing that post! I can’t wait to check it out. Oh man, it’s almost too much work sometimes lol! And you don’t need to because you already do a fantastic job!
Thanks so much Annette! We are busy ladies!
Thanks so much Carrie!
Thanks so much Holly! Still so much to learn lol!
Isn’t it lovely?
Sometimes I feel like I don’t haha!
I agree! It’s easier to get distracted too!
YAY! The struggle is real! Oh yes, I do spend quite a bit of time on Instagram. And my email inbox always gets backed up so I have to make myself check it every few hours. I hope you have a better week!
Thanks so much Monica!
I love this look and those booties are gorgeous. Love the heel detail.
Dear, your skirt is simply gorgeous! Blogging indeed is extremely demanding, yet you managed to keep your schedule on point. These are really handy tips dear. Thanks for sharing.
